Started in UNCC's EPIC laboratory in Charlotte, NC, PoleVolt combines the ubiquity of utility poles with the growing need for EV charging infrastructure.
The Problem
Building EV charging infrastructure is prohibitively expensive—the high costs of boring and trenching are major barriers to development.
The Solution
A QR code on the utility pole leads to a web app that interfaces with the charging system. Customers can autofill info, pay online, and start charging without downloading a separate app.
